Books and Authors: What do you think of this fictional time line?

I'm going for a fictional Steampunk setting and have been brainstorming about when the time line should diverge from our own. It's not completed yet, but take a look at this timeline and tell me what you think. This is in books and authors because I may make a novelette out of it.

1483 - An assassination attempt made on the child king of England, King Edward V, is thwarted. Richard, Duke of Gloucester, is executed on terms of treason.

1483 - Pope Alexander II awards colonial rights of the Americas to England and Spain. He sends an emissary to England in order to aid govern.

1496 - England and Spain officially begin constructing settlements in North America.

1496 - The natives' generosity is returned with hostility. They are enslaved and forced to work plantations.

1496 - After witnessing a native village die from an unknown sickness, the European colonists and the Catholic Church agree not to convert them and stay as far away as possible. Hence, the Bene Sanitus pact was formed. It stated that while all peasants and criminals were to be deported to the Americas the higher classmen were to stay in England unless they supervised one of the plantations.

1497 - Indulgences are sold by the Catholic Church to peasants and convicts in exchange for their continued residency in the old world. The Catholic Church soon becomes the most affluent organization on the globe.

1497 - Massive amounts of food and raw materials are shipped to England and Spain. This begins the Epoch of Renewal.

1501 - The newly-chosen leader of the Catholic Church, Pope Dominum Miltiades, comes to throne.

1506 - Miltiades firms his grip on Europe and builds a northern capital for the Catholic Church in England. This city would be known as Urbs Lux Licis.

1508 - King Edward V of England ignites a war on France in Miltiades' name. Though the Pope never requested such a quarrel, he was still pleased by the reverent king. He orders the magistrates of Urbs Lux Licis to fund the English war effort.

1509 - With the money from the church, England runs rampant through French territory and obliterates anything in it's path of glory.

1510 - King Louis XII is beheaded. France is merged into England. All peasants must either purchase indulgences or be deported to the Americas.

1510 - The government in England begins to invest their income into scientific research upon approval of the Pope.

1511 - The power of steam energy is invented. Factories are constructed along the English and French countryside.

1512 - Pope Miltiades continues to siphon the Catholic Church's currency to England. He also moves the capital of the church to Urbs Lux Licis. He is assassinated while on his pilgrimage to England.

1513 - With the power of the church in his hands, King Edward V crowns himself as Pope. He creates a new title for his predecessors; The Rector of Civilization or Altus Rector.

1514 - Martin Luther dies of a mysterious line of plague.

1528 - The steampowered engine is invented in England. The sole use for it is to fuel vessels across the ocean. With this advantage, England receives goods from the Americas at a drastic rate.

1530 - Altus Rector Edward arranges for a crusade in the Americas to eliminate the Spanish presence. Using steampower on their side, the dispute is quickly ended and Spain requests a truce. The Traducir Treaty is penned. Spain pays fifteen percent of its cache to England every five years.Books and Authors: What do you think of this fictional time line?
i think the biggest "hole" in your timeline is that the catholic church is so strong everywhere on the continent that there would be another schism if there was any suggestion of moving any of the churches power to England.
