Do I need to learn more about Unionism?

I have been learning about Irish History and this is what I have gathered from Unionism:

Unionists want to remain part of the United Kingdom because their ancestors are British and where planted in Ireland many years ago

Ireland before the Partition was ruled by a protestant only parliament in respects from Britain, catholics were denied full political and economical rights under penal laws.

Unionism is often centred on an identification with Protestantism, especially in the sense of Britishness.

Unionists want to remain part of the UK because they were well look after by the brits were as Catholics were not with the religion being banned, priests being executed, irish catholics sold into slavery and catholic land being given to english and scottish settlers.

The Plantation of Ulster by James VI was to reward his subjects in Scotland with land and to assure them they were not being neglected now that James had moved his court to London.

Do I need to learn more about unionism. I assume that the Unionsts today of Northern Ireland would want to remain part of the UK because of how the Republic of Ireland have handled themselves financially, because of their roots, because of how much the country has grown and because of how much they oppose nationalists/republicans.

I need more info on unionism from people. Do you think the nationalist/republicans of the north are annoyed with the Rep. of Ireland because of how they have handled themselves financially. Please don't give me a link to google or wikipedia please lol.Do I need to learn more about Unionism?
You have got some facts right.

Here are some things to research. William of Orange. The Orange Order. The Battle of the Boyne.

The financial problems in the Republic of Ireland have nothing to do with the Unionists dislike of the Republic.

A lot of the Unionists are religious fundamentalists.

The history of all this is very complex, with many different points of view.
