Another topic for my essay?

My essay is a compare and contrast about the Northern states and Southern States between 1830 and 1860. I have two topics already but I need a third.



topic 1:

Americans, in the North, knew that if they worked hard, they did not need to stay in the poor class of society. They had a chance to move into the middle class. Most people living in the North were members of the middle class by the time the Civil War began. Notice that your reading says they believed in moving toward progress in the North.



Topic 2:

Americans in the South remained loyal to their traditional customs. The people in the South did not think about working hard to change their social status. They accepted life as they found it and accepted the social class into which they were born. Remember, only 25% of the southerners were wealthy plantation owners. Most of the people who lived in the South were small farmers.



Topic 3: of course will be a compare, but I'm not sure what to compare about them. They were totally different. any idea?Another topic for my essay?
Topic 3: Immigrants arriving during this time period and how they either assimilated or not based on their arrival to the north or south.
