1. Religious freedom and economic prosperity. The first person is wrong. It's definitely this one when you consider how many of the first settlers to America were pilgrims (Puritans and Separatists) and those who were aristocrats or poor people in England both looking to find greater fame and prosperity.
2. Tobacco
3. I'm guessing that the Southern colonies. New England was more industrial so they didn't really have any slaves. The Middle colonies were not as dependent to the slaves as the southern colonies were because it was the southern colonies were heavily dependent upon the slaves for their large plantations.
4. New England. Practically all of New England were founded for religious tolerance, freedom from religious persecution, and such. Pennsylvania, founded by William Penn a Puritan, Rhode Island-created for a refuge from fleeing religious people, and so forth. I may be wrong here it all depends on what your book says because some books contradict each other.
5. To practice their religion without persecution. Once again pilgrims were the Puritans and separtists... mostly
6.Step toward self-government in the English colonies. The US Constitution was heavily influenced by the Compact.
