I know that there is a tea plantation in South England but I dont Know too much about the North, any ideas?Could I grow a tea plant in North England?
I'm with Steve on this one. What's the point of growing Camellia if you can't enjoy the flowers (leaves are harvested for tea before the plant flowers). There are plenty of Camellias hardy in your region but not C. sinensis.
No. It is part of the Camellia family (C. sinensis if my memory serves) but is not hardy that far North.
I really can't think of any reason to grow it other than the novelty. However the Camillias are wonderful evergreen shrubs for a slightly acid soil, so why not try C.japonica or C.x williamsii. (I believe the latter does best further north but perhaps someone could confirm this).Could I grow a tea plant in North England?
