Now this was at a time when Mr. Jackson was just cutting his first hits and a youngster and he may have seen this ...Could you tell me for sure who invented the dance "moonwalk"?
Yes I always thought that crazed idiot, with the false face did it. but I think before that, we also had moonboots, to wear in the snow, I had a pair. wish I still had them, the snow boots they make now a day are crap!!!! I hope he didn't watch that program, gosh those were great shows, and that would be a slam if that idiot, used that as a way for his goofy music!!!! good grief that guy is a wierdo!!!!!
Ed Ames as Mingo did not do the moondance on purpose, if that can even be called a moondance. I do know he has his own way of walking as does everyone else. It's just his manner of walking backwards in a stiffened, concentrated manner.

Could you tell me for sure who invented the dance "moonwalk"?Well Michael didn't start doing it til the 80's. It became his signature because he perfected that move, lookin like he's floating on air.
A tap dancer done it back in the 50's, Bill Baley or something like that, but I'm sure it was performed before that. It originate from a type of dance move where they'd slide their feet. I can't recall. Probably need to browse the net or something.
It was Marcel Marceau.

The moonwalk or backslide is a dance move that gained widespread popularity after being performed by Michael Jackson on the 1983 television special Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever, and has since become his signature move. The purpose of the moonwalk is to give the illusion that the dancer appears to walk forward while actually moving backward.
Although he did not invent its mechanics (which were pioneered by Marcel Marceau) and has never claimed to have done so, Michael Jackson made the "moonwalk" (which was named by the media) one of the most recognizable dance moves in history, often made in direct reference to Michael Jackson.
Jean-Louis Barrault mimed the Moon Walk before Michael Jackson.
