How can i change these 4 sentences to active voice? help please?

i'm an english learner and i can not notice the differencebetween active and passive voice. Please help me change this 4 sentences to active voice.

A hard life was had by Harriet Tubman because of the prejuices and injustices of the early 188's.

In 1849, Tubman was sold by her masters to a distant plantation.

Travelling to the new plantation, she was overcome by a desire to scape.

She slipped into the woods and stealthily made her way north toward states where slavery had been outlawed.How can i change these 4 sentences to active voice? help please?
Possibilities:

Prejudices and injustices of the early 1800's made Harriet Tubman's life hard.

or

Harriet Tubman had a hard life because of prejudices and injustices of the early 1800's.

============

In 1849 Harriet Tubman's masters sold her to a distant plantation.

==============

Traveling to the new plantation, Harriet Tubman felt an overwhelming desire to escape.

==================

She slipped into the woods and stealthily made her way north toward states that had outlawed slavery.

Essentially passive voice is shown (right there, for example) by an action being done TO someone or something, but an active voice manifests itself by showing the subject DOING the action himself.

I hope this helps a bit, and surely others will have good answers, too.

ADDED: Sorry, but it seems the first answer (though a pretty good answer overall) has left elements of the THIRD and FOURTH sentences in the passive voice. Yes, they are perfectly fine sentences, but since you are specifically concerned with ACTIVE and PASSIVE voices, those two could not properly be left as you presented them.

In sentence THREE, where it says "she was overcome," that bit is clearly passive. In sentence FOUR the passive element shows in the part about the states where "slavery had been outlawed."How can i change these 4 sentences to active voice? help please?
Active voice is when the verb is toward the beginning of the sentence. Passive voice is when the verb is closer to the end. I changed them for you:

Harriet Tubman had a hard life because of the prejuices and injustices of the early 188's. (I hope you meant 1880s)

In 1849, Tubman's masters sold her to a distant plantation.

Travelling to the new plantation, she was overcome by a desire to scape. (I think you meant escape. Also, I left the sentence the same because the sentence starts with a gerund verb, or verb ending with 'ing'. Basically, the sentence is good, and I like it)

She slipped into the woods and stealthily made her way north toward states where slavery had been outlawed. (Great sentence, I left it the same.)
