How can i time travel to the past to lets say 1861?

i have had dreams and seen the civil war and my great great grandfather fighting the yankees in his time i even seen myself talking to him and my family on the plantation here in north carolina, somehow i feel funny that the past is still here only yesterday like a mystery, but more real than that i wanted to always go back to 1861 and if i had to i am willing to sacrifice and give up this life here and go back to live in that time with my ancestors, on the plantation how can i even avoid that.i cant avoid it. its what i want its my wish i saw in my dream he wanted me to come back to be with them and help them on plantation with animals ride the horses and etc i would love that more then anything else, they also had a family on our side who was a pastor and founded the church in 1834 and he was my great great great grandfather he was a pastor in the church and had ten slaves who came to church too. with families, how can i ignore the feeling how can i even make a wish come true its what i really want, i seen that dream i said ok fine that's what i want to do is go back to his time so far people think its silly but it's not its for real what can i doHow can i time travel to the past to lets say 1861?
Many questions in this forum give us the opportunity to subtly say "You are an idiot" but there are a few that deprive us of that opportunity.
You're gonna need a flux capacitor and some good whiskey. Not that Jack Daniel's crap. How can i time travel to the past to lets say 1861?
You have to take more hot showers and embrace your reality
:D
Sorry, Bobby, it can't be done. Time travel is impossible for living humans.

Think about it. Suppose you went back to 1861 and saw your great, great grandfather. Maybe you would go to a battle site where he fought. You explain who you are, and after you get past his disbelief, you sit down and have a great talk about life in your time and his. Then, all of a sudden, there is a rush attack from those Yankees he was fighting. You get up to see the action, but he pulls you back. In doing that, he exposes himself and is shot to death. You would feel terrible, but more to the point, how could you even be there. If he was killed, your great grandfather would never be born. Neither would your grandfather or your father. And if none of them were born, how could you be here? Do you see the problem?

Or think of this example. Suppose you don't go back that far. You just go back to when you were a little kid. You walk in the door of your house, and start to have a conversation with . . . yourself!! Again, do you see the problem? There are two of you. One of the Bobby's is the person who asked this question. The other Bobby is the kid you were just talking to. Unless you can deal with the idea that there are two completely different Bobby's out there and that each of them is real, time travel can't work.

It would be a wonderful thing to see how history really happened. Who killed President Kennedy? Or, since you like the Civil War, who convinced Lee to let Pickett make his charge, a disaster that led to the defeat at Gettysburg and the loss of the South's last chance? All of that would be wonderful, but time doesn't work in two directions.
What a fantasy ! You are proud that your great, great, great grandfather a pastor in the church, having ten slaves ? Wake up kid and smell the coffee ! I think you have been watching a lot of old movies on the civil war, this affected you so much to the point that you had dreams about it. You should seek medical help if you keep dreaming the same dreams.

Thank God, that the civil war is in the past ! ( pray God for peace kid, because a civil war is the worst war in the human kind )
