How would I write an introductory paragraph for a paper?

I have written a paper on how the north won the civil war but I don't have an introductory paragraph to start it off and I have it written in bullets this is what I got so far:

They had two and one half the population.

With all the coloreds fighting in the war for the north it made the south weaker

They had three times the railroad capacity.

the North could ship more weapons quicker.

They had nine times as much industry.

The North had better weapons because they were dependent upon industry. However the south was more dependent upon plantation.

The southern slaves several things to help the North such as:

Reporting to the North and telling the North the South's plans.

This gave the North an advantage considering they would know the Norths plans and could think of a plan that would stop the south from wining.

slave's would escape to the south and fight with the North.

This gave the North more people to fight in the war.How would I write an introductory paragraph for a paper?
[Dump the first sentence] However the worst war was the American civil war. [ clarify what you mean about the worst war. The worst as far as damage on American Soil? The worst as far as almost tearing apart the nation? what?] The war was also unfair considering how the North won.[ so is this going to be your thesis? If so, nothing in the other sentences indicate unfairness.

In fact, at the beginning of the war, the outcome was far from certain. for one thing the South had better officers. Another advantage was the "home field". The South new the land, the area, the transportation system, where to find support etc.

Decide how you are going to organize the entire paper. example:

Inspirational quotation (s).

Paragraph 1 Introduction establish the facts, date, situation, clarify who, where, what, were on each side.

Next: what were the MANY reasons for the outbreak of war?

Next: Northern advantages

Next: Southern advantages

Next :analysis of well done or disastrous decisions. For example, did the Emancipation Proclamation have any effect on the outcome of the war, or is it overrated?

Next: personal opinion, back it up with facts

Summarize the paper, restating your thesis statement.

Hope this helps you get a bit further.
