A) early French colonies were only temporary, established by cod fishermen around Newfoundland
B) many of the French colonies were created as religious havens
C) the French often had skirmishes with the Native Americans over land ownership
D) the first French settlers were primarily interested in trading with Indians
E) the French settlers in North America created plantations and farmsOne way that the earliest French settlements in North America differed from the colonies that England had...?
I think the answer is all of the above..
They did all of these things.. I think if there was a main objective about coming to north america, it was probably for the trading of fur. It was indeed not a long term stay because their military force in Canada and North America was so very small. When England came they practically brought the whole damned military with them.
I think they outnumbered France 4 or 5 to 1.
