What side is responsible for the American CivIL War, north or south?

Two main sections became known in the country: Northern and Southern. The South differed from the North by factors like climate and plantation etc. However, the most important difference was that slavery of black people persisted in the South while it had been prohibited in the rest of the United States. The masters of these salves in the South defended their position by arguing that blacks were wild and dangerous people and could only be controlled by means of force into slavery. The Northern and other parts of the country were developing an increased feeling of hostility towards the Southerners over this issue of slavery. What side is responsible for the American CivIL War, north or south?
Neither. You can't have a war - or a fight - or an argument, unless you have two sides in opposition. Had the North decided to let the South pursue its traditional lifestyle and customs, there would have been no war. Had the South decided the Northern point of view had clear merit, there would have been no war.

But in fact, the war was not about slavery. That was a side issue and it became a red flag - something that people got all incensed about - but which, in fact, was not the sole cause.

The North and South were on a collision course through many aspects - States rights was one issue of contention. And there were societal differences. The focus of the North was on industrialization, while the South stuck to its agrarian roots and its Plantation-style of life. There were other causes as well, but these were some of the main points of difference. Slavery was important, but was not the sole cause of the war.

In each of these areas, neither side was willing to admit that the other might have a better point of view. There could have been compromise, but neither side was willing to do that. So war was inevitable, but it was not the 'fault' of any one side. Both were responsible.
