the north or the south?
Two main sections became known in the country: Northern and Southern. The South differed from the North by factors like climate and plantation etc. However, the most important difference was that slavery of black people persisted in the South while it had been prohibited in the rest of the United States. The masters of these salves in the South defended their position by arguing that blacks were wild and dangerous people and could only be controlled by means of force into slavery. The Northern and other parts of the country were developing an increased feeling of hostility towards the Southerners over this issue of slavery.Which side is responsible for the civil war?
Both sides were equally responsible as the Northerners tried to push their moral views upon the South and the South viewed it as destroying their way of life and economy. The South decided to secede based on the assumption that the North could not survive without access to their cotton, and that European Nations would recognize them to gain access to their exports.
You believe that one side was at fault based on the way people have been taught to think today. History is written by the victors, and the viewpoint of the losing side at that time tends to be lost, not just in the civil war but in all major events like it.
i think both sidea are responsible. the south was the one that was not caring for the african american slaves and were lowering them as human being and the north was against that, but both sides were against it in the first place so without the slavery driven south, there would be no war but also, without the north, there would be no one against the issue. So both sides were responsible!Which side is responsible for the civil war?
The south was responsible for the Civil War, because if they did not attempt to secede and fire on American soldiers, there would have been no war. The south could have just admitted that their own stupidity lost them the election in 1860 and accepted the defeat and then gone on to attempt to win the Presidency in 1864 by legal means, but they chose to step outside the political arena and into the arena of battle, therefore the onus is on the south.

A question like this is unanswerable. The political situation in the US caused the Civil War. Your paragraph above describes that political situation fairly well.
Who fired the first shot? The Southerners. But it isn't necessary to place blame; it's necessary to understand why the two sides developed and what can be done to avoid similar situations in the future.
The Civil War was a result of the circumstances that developed in the US for over a hundred years. It could be argued that either side was responsible for the war, but it was the south that fired the first shot (at Fort Sumter in Charleston harbor).
