I will be staying on the island of Oahu this summer and would like to visit one of the beautiful beaches on the North Shore. I also plan on going to the Dole Pineapple Plantation while there. Can anyone recommend some good places to visit in the North Shore or just Oahu in general? Also, if you could think of any 18+ clubs or things to do at night, that would be great! Thanks to all who answer! :)Best beaches on the North Shore?
Hey Jane, welcome to Hawaii, yeah? Rite now hea Oahu we bout to drown, ok? Lotta rain, bout 2 inches an hour up onna pali, so maybe we still be hea when you come, if you hea now, sorry for rain, not typical, but hey it the weather, we all just at mercy of weather, ok? Dole Plantation gonna take bout 2 hours, so not a big deal, but good attraction, unfortunate that pineapple production pretty much gone to otha countrys, but hey that what happen when government interfere with good thing, yeah? North Shore great place to visit, and great place to live, bout 100 named beaches there, and alla them great in they own way, ok? Like most people I have fav, but that may not be your fav, ok? In summer, for sure go to Waimea, cause great place to swim, great beach, and good facility, ok? Also, lifeguard too, so that good thing, specially for tourists, ok? Basically any place where you like gonna be best beach, cause that appeal to you, and in summer usually smaller waves, great wave, and safe place to swim and play, ok? Be safe, and have great time, and thank you for come to Hawaii, ok?
Peace and aloha to you!
Probably the best beach on the north shore is the part between Ehukai beach Park and Rocky Point. If you pull into the parking lot at Ehukai and then make a right and follow the road that parallels the highway next to the houses, you go about a half mile until the road dips down a little and you'll see a public right of way between the houses. Park your car on the side of the road there. But it's also nice around the other side of Rocky Point all the way down to Sunset Beach. Another nice place is Waimea Bay, but it's much more crowded and well-known. But Waimea Bay has a jump rock that's lots of fun and excellent snorkeling on either far end of the beach near the rocks. As long as it's calm and no waves. Don't bother with the Dole Plantation. It's just a tourist trap. Other great sites on Oahu are the Waimea Valley (right behind Waimea Bay), Manoa Falls trail (inland from Waikiki), Kailua Beach, the incredible drive from along the east side (the windward side). Ka'a'awa and Punalu'u are the most beautiful places on the island. The hike to Makapu'u lighthouse is awesome too. Diamond Head is so-so. Hanauma Bay's a little touristy and Waimea has better snorkeling. Three Tables on the north shore has good snorkeling too.Best beaches on the North Shore?
Backpackers hostel is a really fun place to stay if you're young. They have a BBQ each night where everyone hangs out together. You'd love it. It's by Three Tables Beach on the North Shore.

My favorite other beach is Waimea Bay. It's really good in summer.

The surfing beaches on the North Shore won't be very exciting in summer. But Waimea Bay and Three Tables will be gorgeous. You're so lucky to go there!
Also, Dole Plantation has really yummy icecream!!

If you are driving out to the North Shore, not staying out there, it will be at least 2 different day trips.
Shark's Cove is nice. There is a natural rock formation that encloses a large pool and tide pools. At low tide, you can walk out pretty far past the sea wall. the rocks are sharp, though, so stay close. There is a grassy area above the cove and sandy area down below, but you won't get the classic sandy beach with waves coming up. For that, stop at Sunset Beach, Waimea Bay. Stay out of the water if there is no lifeguard.
Sunsets in summer can be spectacular on that side of the island, why part of it is called Sunset Beach.
Cruise Haleiwa Town, You have to have shave ice. Matsumoto's is the most famous, but the one next door is great too if you don't want to wait in the longer line.
Polynesian Cultural Center: it's a theme park, but more authentic. The students of BYU-Hawaii work the park, showcasing culture from their Pacific Island nations. They have an evening show and dinner pa`ina (lu`au).
If you are going to stay out there, Turtle Bay has lovely beaches including Kawela Bay, with good snorkeling and you just might get lucky and see a turtle.
Kualoa Ranch has various activities, from tradional trail rides on horseback (as does Turtle Bay Resort) to paint ball and some water activities.
Generally, for a peaceful and lazy day of sunning and swimming, go to Kailua Beach or Lanikai. If you walk past the boat ramp, you can walk to Lanikai Beach (facing the water. it would be to the right). Soft white sand, impossibly blue green water, gentle waves, iconic islets offshore, a few little tide pools. Great for swimming, but again, stay out of the water if no lifeguards and you aren't a strong swimmer. Lots of shvae ice places andlittle shops to explore on the way to the beach park.
18+ clubs are going to be mostly in Waikiki, though there is a lot of activity at the Fresh Cafe, in Kaka`ako in Honolulu. http://www.facebook.com/freshcafe#!/fres鈥?/a>
